SpaceChain Paves the Way for High-speed Blockchain Processing in Space with Seventh Payload Launch

Mission validates the high customizability of blockchain-enabled space nodes and feasibility of performing high-speed processing in space

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Nov. 26, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — SpaceChain today announced it has successfully launched its second Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) payload into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, which is on its way to the International Space Station (ISS) for installation via the SpaceX Dragon 2 spacecraft. The mission marks SpaceChain’s seventh successful blockchain payload launch into space, and the second integration of its payload with Velas, the world’s fastest EVM blockchain and open-source platform for decentralized applications.

Once installed and tested on the ISS via Nanoracks, the space node will be capable of processing Velas blockchain on the ISS and sending Velas digital assets from space, such as VLX, tokens and NFTs, in addition to performing complete high-speed transaction services across the Velas platform, including smart contract deployment and coin minting.

Today’s mission not only reaffirms SpaceChain’s commitment in empowering blockchain companies to harness space as a platform for business innovation, and the high customizability of blockchain-enabled space nodes in meeting diverse industry needs, it also validates the possibility and feasibility of performing high-speed blockchain processing in space, and serves as a successful scientific demonstration of SpaceChain’s highly integrative space-as-a-service solutions with EVM compatible blockchain technology.

“As the world’s most progressive enterprises take their businesses to space, they will require a high-speed decentralized infrastructure to meet demands and growth fueled by protocols and financial applications,” said Cliff Beek, CEO of SpaceChain. “Our collaboration with Velas will help lay the foundation for high-speed and ultra-secure blockchain processing and transactions in space, which we believe will become increasingly crucial for those looking to harness space technologies for competitive advantage in the burgeoning space-for-earth economy.”

“It is a historical milestone for Velas to have our integrated space node tested on the ISS through SpaceChain. We are thrilled to see this vision realized, which took many months of planning and coordination with stakeholders in the space industry,” said Farkhad Shagulyamov, co-founder and CEO of Velas. “We are looking forward to strengthening our collaborative effort with SpaceChain to create innovative solutions and business use cases in the near term.”

Velas is the fastest EVM blockchain that is capable of handling 50,000+ transactions per seconds (TPS) with an innovative hybrid consensus of Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) and Proof-of-History (PoH).

The collaboration between SpaceChain and Velas is poised to improve consensus mechanisms in blockchain, and help generate use cases of space-based blockchain and decentralized infrastructure outside of financial services and cryptocurrencies.

We have decided to leave all legislative assemblies: Former Pakistan PM Khan

“We will not be part of this system. We have decided to quit all the assemblies and get out of this corrupt system,” Khan said at a large public rally in the northeastern garrison city of Rawalpindi.

However, he said that the final decision in this regard will be announced after his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) parliamentary party meeting.

PTI is in power in the country’s most populous Punjab province, northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and northern Gilgit Baltistan.

Khan also announced calling off his protest march to Islamabad. “I have decided not to go to Islamabad because I know there will be havoc and the loss will be to the country,” he added.

Earlier upon his arrival, thousands of PTI supporters welcomed Khan as he joined the long march in his first public appearance since being wounded in a gun attack earlier this month.

Khan, who kicked off the “long march” on Oct. 28 in an attempt to press the government for snap elections, was attacked on Nov. 3 by what appeared to be a lone gunman, who fired a volley of bullets at him.

At least one person was killed and another 13 injured in the brazen attack. The suspected attacker is in police custody and being interrogated.

However, Khan said there were three shooters who attacked him.

The former premier has called for early elections since his ouster in a parliament no-confidence vote in April.

“Only immediate elections could save Pakistan from further economic and political instability,” he said.

Since his ouster, Khan has held a series of anti-government rallies for “real freedom,” and has alleged that he was removed in a US-sponsored conspiracy. The coalition government and Washington have denied the claims.

Somali military recaptures strategic town of El Dhere, government says

In a press conference, Abdirahman Yusuf al-Adala, the deputy information minister, said that more than 100 al-Shabaab terrorists, including 12 of their commanders, were killed in the Middle Shabelle region in a military operation supported by local militias and international security partners.

He said the operation was followed by a similar military operation in the village of Bulo-Madino in the southwestern Lower Shabelle region in which more than 60 al-Shabaab terrorists were killed.

On Friday, the army said it foiled an al-Shabaab attack on a military base in the central region of Galgadud.

Somalia has been plagued by insecurity for years, with al-Shabaab being one of the main threats.

Since at least 2007, al-Shabaab has waged a deadly campaign against the Somali government and international forces, claiming thousands of lives.

The UN has also warned of growing instability in the country, with its periodic reports on Somalia this year detailing attacks by al-Shabaab and pro-Daesh/ISIS groups.

There were at least 1,518 civilian casualties – 651 killed and 867 injured – in terrorist attacks in Somalia in 2018, followed by 1,459 – 591 killed and 868 injured – in 2019, according to UN estimates.

Russia claims US developed ‘synthetic coronavirus pathogen’

“The modified virus acquired by the Americans killed 80% of infected model animals, causing abnormal neurological signs and significant lung damage. Antibody testing revealed an 11-fold decline in their capacity to neutralize the new virus, as well as the ineffectiveness of current vaccinations,” Igor Kirillov, head of biological and chemical defense troops, said in a news conference.

Kirillov said the modified virus was developed by Boston University.

He added that the US continues its military biological activities in third countries, and prefers conducting experiments abroad because of the high risk of accidents.

Russia, he said, will demand the creation of an effective mechanism for monitoring such activities at the upcoming meeting of the Biological Weapons Convention.

In a separate statement, the ministry also said Moscow and Kyiv held another round of war prisoners exchange and as a result, nine Russian soldiers returned from captivity.

Pakistan to hold next elections ‘on time’ after August 2023: Prime Minister Sharif

“Let me make it absolutely clear that the next elections will be held on time,” Sharif told Anadolu Agency in an interview.

He was responding to questions about his predecessor and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s demand for early elections.

“This government came into being through a constitutional process and enjoys the mandate of the people of Pakistan,” Sharif said.

“The term of the current National Assembly will end in August 2023 to be followed by the establishment of an interim government that will hold elections,” the Pakistani prime minister explained.?

The present coalition government has “representation of all political parties of the country except the PTI and is busy dealing with the issues of great importance,” Sharif said.

Notably, Khan said on Saturday his party has decided to resign from all provincial assemblies, a move seen as a fresh bid to push the government for early elections in the country.

Sharif paid a two-day official visit to Türkiye on Friday at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

On Friday, Sharif and President Erdogan jointly inaugurated the third of four MILGEM corvette ships manufactured by Türkiye for the Pakistan Navy at the Istanbul Shipyard.

Some countries do not publicize weapons deliveries to Ukraine: Foreign minister

“Most of these third countries publicly say that they are supplying nothing, but things are happening behind the scenes,” Ukrinform news agency quoted Dmytro Kuleba as saying.

In addition to forwarding their own weapons to Ukraine, some countries also work with other countries by buying equipment from them before sending military support to Kyiv, Kuleba added.

Besides, no world leader is pressuring Ukraine to negotiate in opposition to its interests, he said, adding a fair peace must begin with the complete restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

Venezuelan government, opposition sign 2nd partial agreement in Mexico

The Mexican foreign minister celebrated the bilateral talks through social networks, congratulating both parties.

“It is a triumph of politics and merit to recognize the participants. Mexico is your home, congratulations! Good news for the Venezuelan people,” Ebrard wrote on his Twitter account.

One of the achievements from this second round of negotiations was the release of frozen assets which will be used to address the socioeconomic turmoil in the country.

In a joint effort, the government and its opposition requested the UN to release billions of dollars held in different foreign countries through a “social protection” fund.

According to Jorge Rodríguez, a delegate representing the government of Nicolas Maduro, the resources will go to strengthen the country’s health care system and secure medicines and vaccines.

He said the resources will be invested in the country’s electric power service and school infrastructure and to attend to the needs derived from recent natural disasters that hit Venezuela.

Since the reopening of the dialogues between both parties in 2021, the Venezuelan government led by Maduro has insisted on lifting the economic sanctions imposed by the US and Europe, which have wreaked havoc on the Venezuelan economy and society.

In addition, the Venezuelan government delegation condemned the detention of Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab by US authorities on corruption charges and whose wife Camila Fabri de Saab was part of the talks held this Saturday.

For its part, the Venezuelan Unity Platform has denounced human rights violations by the Maduro government.

According to the UN, more than 7 million Venezuelans have fled the country due to the current economic crisis plaguing the South American nation.
