Spot market electricity prices for Monday, May 9

The highest electricity price rate for one megawatt-hour on Turkiye’s day-ahead spot market for Monday will be 2,499.98 Turkish liras at 08.00 and 20.00 local time (0500 and 1700 GMT), according to official figures on Sunday.

The lowest is determined as 700 liras at 06.00 local time (0300 GMT), the figures show.

The Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST) data for the trade volume on Sunday’s electricity market showed an increase of 67.4% to 1.00 billion liras compared to Saturday.

The arithmetical and weighted average prices of electricity on the day-ahead spot market are calculated as 1,838.08 liras and 1,854.44 liras, respectively.

The highest electricity price rate for one megawatt-hour for Friday was set as 2,500 Turkish liras at 21.00 local time (1800 GMT) while the lowest was determined as 50.01 liras at 07.00 local time (0400 GMT), according to official figures.

US$1 equals 14.95 liras at 1115 GMT on Sunday.

Turkiye’s daily power consumption down 1.6% on May 7

Daily electricity consumption in Turkiye decreased by 1.67% on Saturday compared to the previous day, totaling 776,287 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Sunday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 36,517 megawatt-hours at 12.00 local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 27,039 megawatt-hours at 06.00 local time (0300 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 774,411 megawatt-hours on Saturday, marking a decrease of 1.85% compared to Friday.

Electricity production from hydropower plants constituted 24.1% of total generation, while run-of-the-river plants and wind energy plants contributed 16.8% and 15.6%, respectively.

On Saturday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 9,699 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 11,575 megawatt-hours.

Spot market natural gas prices for Saturday, May 7

The trade volume on Turkiye’s spot natural gas market showed a decrease of 79.6% to 30.3 million Turkish liras on Saturday, Turkiye’s Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST) data showed on Sunday.

Total trade on Friday amounted to 148.6 million liras.

On Saturday’s spot market, 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas cost 11,505 liras, while the cumulative natural gas trade volume amounted to around 2.63 million cubic meters.

Turkiye received 115.7 million cubic meters of pipeline gas on Saturday.

US$1 equals 14.95 liras at 1103 GMT on Sunday.
