Major indices in the US stock market closed mixed on Friday but posted weekly gains.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 21 points, or 0.06%, to close at 35,089. The blue-chip index gained 1.1% this week.
The S&P 500 rose 23 points, or 0.52%, to finish the day at 4,500 and it posted a weekly increase of 1.6%.
The Nasdaq soared jumped 219 points, or 1.58%, to end the day at 14,098. The tech-heavy index rose 2.4% for the week.
Despite climbing to 26.26 earlier, the VIX volatility index, known as the fear index, reversed course and fell 3.9% to 23.40.
The dollar index was up 0.07% to 95.45, and the yield on 10-year US Treasury notes soared 5.2% to 1.923%.
Precious metals were up slightly with gold adding 0.15% to $1,807 per ounce and silver rising 0.25% to $22.48.
Crude oil prices extended their gains with over a 2.2% increase. Brent crude was trading at $93.11 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate was at $92.20.
