Washington: The US announced a dramatic drop in border crossings Tuesday, with border czar Tom Homan reporting 7,181 migrant encounters in March, marking the lowest monthly figure in his four-decade career.
According to Anadolu Agency, Homan attributed the decrease to President Donald Trump’s leadership and policies, noting a significant reduction from the peaks of “more than 11,000 a day” during former President Joe Biden’s tenure. Homan expressed his satisfaction on X, stating, “I cannot recall a single month since then (1984) that numbers have been that low.”
Homan commended the border agents, noting they are now “allowed to do their job” following the previous administration’s practice of “releasing millions of illegal aliens.” The current administration has introduced comprehensive border measures, including mass deportation flights and stricter asylum rules.
While concerns remain about the potential impact of these policies on vulnerable families fleeing violence, the Trump administration maintains that these actions are necessary to address a national security issue.
