Türkiye’s daily power consumption down 113.4% on Aug. 8

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye increased by 113.4% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 1.3 million megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 50,284 megawatt-hours at 03.00 p.m. local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 32,582 megawatt-hours at 07.00 a.m. local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 895,837 million megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking an increase of 113.7% compared to Sunday.

Electricity production from natural gas power plants constituted 24.2% of total generation, while imported coal plants and hydroelectricity plants contributed 18.4% and 16.1%, respectively.

On Monday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 8,087 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 19,681 megawatt-hours.
