Turkish vice president congratulates Northern Cyprus on elections

In phone calls on Tuesday, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay congratulated the president and prime minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on the country’s recent parliamentary elections.

Oktay told Premier Faiz Sucuoglu that Sunday’s elections were held in a democratic atmosphere and that bilateral ties between Turkiye and the TRNC would grow stronger in the days ahead.

Sucuoglu is head of the National Unity Party, which won around 40% of the vote, according to unofficial results.
