Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul down 0.15% at Friday’s close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,409.56 points on Friday, down 0.15% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,417.45 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 2.19 points from Thursday’s close of 1,411.75 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,397.15 points and its daily high was 1,421.69 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($121 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 18 billion Turkish liras ($1.95 billion).

A total of 37 stocks on the index rose, 56 fell, and seven remained unchanged compared to Thursday’s close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and iron and steel producer Kardemir.

Shares of electrolytic copper producer Sarkuysan performed the best, rising 6.55%, while stocks of pipe and tube producer Erbosan dropped the most, 3.59%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,772.20 by market close, down from $1,797.15 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.9% to $84.76 per barrel as of 6:38 p.m. local time (1538GMT).
