ISTANBUL: US stocks closed lower Tuesday with the SandP 500 and the Nasdaq ending their eight consecutive trading days of winning streaks. The tech-heavy Nasdaq fell almost 60 points, or 0.33%, to finish the session at almost 17,817. The SandP 500 lost 11 points, or 0.2%, to close at 5,597. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, meanwhile, decreased 61 points, or 0.15%, to end the day at nearly 40,835. The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 8.4% to 15.88. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 1.4% to 3.817%. The US dollar index declined 0.51% to 101.37, while the euro rose 0.4% to $1.1130 against the greenback. Precious metals were on the rise, with gold adding 0.5% to $2,516 per ounce and silver increasing 0.25% to $29.45. Oil prices were down around 0.7%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $77.16 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $73.09. Source: Anadolu Agency
