World No.1 Serbian Novak Djokovic advanced to the second round of the 2021 US Open late Tuesday.
Djokovic defeated Danish Holger Rune with a 6-1, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 victory in the first round clash.
Maxime Cressy of the US secured a 5-7, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 and 7-6 win over the 9th seeded Spanish Pablo Carreno Busta in 3 hours and 33 minutes.
Meanwhile, Bianca Andreescu of Canada beat Swiss Viktorija Golubic 7-5, 4-6, and 7-5 to advance to the second round in women’s singles.
World No. 7 seeded Iga Swiatek from Poland defeated Jamie Loeb of US with a 6-3, 6-4 win in 1 hour and 14 minutes.
