Mexico deports over 4,000 irregular migrants in 2021

Mexico deported more than 4,000 irregular migrants this year due to their involvement in criminal activity.

According to local media, authorities took action on irregular migrants found to be involved in various crimes, including theft, drug trafficking, and sexual abuse in different parts of the country through the year.

In a statement, the National Migration Institute (INM) said that some 252,000 migrants were detained in 2021, of which 4,468 were deported after being confirmed as perpetrators of federal crimes such as murder, money laundering, and drug trafficking.

Also, 320 people were extradited at the request of their own country, the INM added.
