La Liga leaders Real Madrid beat Alaves with 2nd half goals

Spanish La Liga leaders Real Madrid toppled Alaves 3-0 on Saturday.

There were no goals in the first half at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu but Real Madrid scored three goals in the second half and get three points.

Spanish midfielder Marco Asensio scored the opener in the 63rd minute.

Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior extended the lead in the 80th minute and French forward Karim Benzema successfully converted a penalty kick in injury time to seal the 3-0 win.

Real Madrid boosted their points to 57 in 25 league matches.

Second-place Sevilla are now seven points behind the Whites and will visit Espanyol on Sunday.

Alaves are in the 19th spot with 20 points.

Earlier Saturday, Atletico Madrid beat Osasuna 3-0 in an away match.

Joao Felix, Luis Suarez and Angel Correa scored in the match.

Suarez scored a classy long-distance goal with his weak foot on a counterattack to beat Osasuna’s goalkeeper.

Atletico Madrid are in fourth place with 42 points. They are currently one point behind Real Betis.

Osasuna have 32 points and are in the ninth spot in La Liga standings.
