Beirut: The death toll from Israel’s airstrikes in Lebanon has reached 2,986 since last October, as reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry on Sunday. The ministry’s statement also highlighted that a total of 13,402 individuals have been wounded since the onset of hostilities in October.
According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli airstrikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Saturday resulted in 18 fatalities and left 83 others injured. The intensified air campaign by Israel, which began in late September, targets what are claimed to be Hezbollah positions. This escalation marks a significant intensification of the year-long cross-border conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which was further aggravated by Israel’s offensive on the Gaza Strip.
The conflict expanded further when Israel launched an incursion into southern Lebanon on October 1. The ongoing hostilities underscore the volatile situation in the region, with both sides engaged in a protracted and deadly confrontation.
