Giannis Antetokounmpo scores 40 points, leading Bucks to 118-116 win over 76ers

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 40 points to help the Milwaukee Bucks defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 118-116 late Tuesday.

Antetokounmpo, who had the game-winning block on Joel Embiid with 1.6 seconds left, added 14 rebounds, six assists and three blocks for the winning side.

In a game between two of the Eastern Conference’s top teams, Khris Middleton played with 22 points and Jrue Holiday added 18 for the Bucks.

For the losing side, James Harden finished with 32 points and nine rebounds, and Embiid recorded a double-double with 29 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.

The Bucks rank second with 47 wins and 28 losses while the 76ers are fourth with a 46-29 win/loss record in the Eastern Conference standings.

Considering their regular season performances, Antetokounmpo and Embiid are among the candidates of the 2021-2022 MVP award and both players record similar statistics as the regular season will end on April 10.

A two-time regular season MVP, Antetokounmpo averaged 29.9 points, 11.6 rebound and 5.8 assists so far, while Embiid averaged with 29.9 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
