Five people dead in Louisville shooting

At least five people were killed and eight others were injured in a shooting at a bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, Monday morning.

It all started when a gunman entered the bank and opened fire.

According to the Police, the alleged perpetrator is dead and the identity is currently unknown. The gunman's motive is not yet known but he may have had a connection to the bank and may have been a current or former employee.

"We believe it's only one person involved in this that had a relationship with the bank," Police Chief Humphrey said at a news conference.

As the deputy director said, the dead are five and at least eight people, including a police officer, were taken to the University of Louisville Hospital.

He also said that two people were hospitalized in critical condition, including a police officer who underwent surgery.

In the area where the bank is located and where the attack took place there are many hotels and apartment complexes.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear arrived at the scene and said emotionally that he lost two of his friends in the attack and another is in critical condition.

Beshear had carried out his election campaign when he was a candidate for Prosecutor in the building where the bank is located and knew all the staff.

The mayor of the city, Craig Greenberg thanked those who responded and rushed to help.

"No doubt, their actions saved lives. Pray with us for those who are currently in the hospital fighting for their lives after yet another act of gun violence," Greenberg said.
