On 24 February 2022, Russian armed forces launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. As a result of this unprovoked and unjustified aggression, substantial areas of Ukraine now constitute areas of war from which many people are fleeing.
The EU has reacted swiftly and decisively to Russia’s aggression by adopting restrictive measures, which will have massive and severe consequences for Russia.
The EU has stepped up its political, humanitarian and financial support for Ukraine's economy, society, and future reconstruction.
