CNA Acting Director and Editor in Chief welcomed the agreement, noting that it reaffirms the good relations and close ties, not only between the two agencies, but also between the people of the two countries. "We are looking forward to try to make this agreement as fruitful as it can be in practice," he said.

Christodoulides highlighted that "we are following the events in Kosovo with great concern," especially the actions taken against the Serbian population there. He noted that we know that they are suffering and we hope that a peaceful solution can be found to this problem.

At the same time, he said, the Cyprus problem remains unresolved since 1974, with Cyprus being under Turkish occupation, recalling that there are 40,000 Turkish troops in the Turkish occupied areas of the island. The Acting Director noted that all mediating efforts to finding a solution have so far failed due to Turkish intransigence. "But we don't lose hope, we think that Cyprus deserves a better future, for all the people here, Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots. We hope that at the end a just and viable solution will be achieved in the Cyprus problem," he added.

On her part, Director of Tanjug.Tacno noted that May has been a very eventful month for the Serbian population, referring to the two mass shooting tragedies, which, as she said, were devastating for the society, followed by the "horrible events" that happened in Kosovo. "It's a very turbulent time and it seems like common sense is very hard to find, so it's very important to keep our friends and people that have the same aspirations as us, close," she added.

In the end, she concluded, peace is the only thing that is sustainable. "Let's hope that common sense wins and we will be able to continue the growth of our countries and achieve economic as well as any other growth", she said, welcoming the interagency agreement as well.

The two agencies also agreed to a future exchange of delegations, in order to further strengthen their bonds.

The agreement provides that Tanjug.Tacnowill put at CNA's disposal its Service News and Photo Service and CNA will put at Tacno disposal its News and Photo Services. Each party will be able to use up to 10 news and photos daily of other Party for newswire production, citing their origin.
