Spot market natural gas prices for Friday, May 6

The trade volume on Turkiye’s spot natural gas market showed a decrease of 9.3% to 148.6 million Turkish liras on Friday, Turkiye’s Energy Exchange Istanbul (EXIST) data showed on Saturday.

Total trade on Thursday amounted to 163.9 million liras.

On Friday’s spot market, 1,000 cubic meters of natural gas cost 11,851 liras, while the cumulative natural gas trade volume amounted to around 12.54 million cubic meters.

Turkiye received 136.2 million cubic meters of pipeline gas on Friday.

US$1 equals 14.95 liras at 1108 GMT on Saturday.

Turkiye’s daily power consumption up 6.3% on May 6

totaling 789,514 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Saturday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 37,331 megawatt-hours at 12.00 local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 26,013 megawatt-hours at 07.00 local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 789,065 megawatt-hours on Friday, marking an increase of 6.3% compared to Thursday.

Electricity production from hydropower plants constituted 21.3% of total generation, while wind energy and lignite power plants contributed 17.7% and 14.4%, respectively.

On Friday, the country’s electricity exports amounted to 12,317 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 12,766 megawatt-hours.
