Turkey’s daily power consumption down 9.26% on August 23

Turkey’s daily electricity consumption increased by 13.6% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 1,029,918 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 50,480 megawatt-hours at 15.00 local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 32,962 megawatt-hours at 07.00 local time (0400 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 1,035,201 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a 13.6% rise from Sunday.

Turkey’s electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 37.5% of total electricity consumption, imported coal plants contributed 16.9% while wind plants comprised 13.9%.

On Monday, Turkey’s electricity exports amounted to 10,704 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 5,666 megawatt-hours.
