Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,391.64 points on Thursday, up 2.27% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,370.52 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 30.89 points from Wednesday’s close of 1,360.75 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,370.52 points, while its daily high was 1,393.37 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.04 trillion Turkish liras ($121.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 12.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).
On the fourth transaction day of the week, 91 stocks on the index rose, eight fell, and one was flat compared to Wednesday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, and iron and steel producers Eregli and Kardemir.
Eregli was the best performer of the day with its shares up 6.78%. Stocks of Borusan saw the sharpest drop with 2.49%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,790 by market close, down from the previous close of $1,801, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $74.69 per barrel as of 6:30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
