Zambia on Sunday said the retrieval of bodies of all 14 people who drowned in a marine accident had been concluded with the aid of military marines.
They will be buried at a mass funeral on Monday, Northern Province Permanent Secretary Bernard Mpundu told reporters.
The accident occurred on Friday when a boat carrying 44 members of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church capsized on Lake Bangweulu in Luapula province, with 30 people rescued.
Mpundu said the recovery was made possible through strong collaboration by army marines, community members and police. He added that the government would improve marine transport services to avert similar losses of life in the future.
