WOLVERHAMPTON: Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha has been suspended for two games following an admission of inappropriate conduct after a Premier League match. In addition to the suspension, Cunha has been fined £80,000 ($100,000) for his actions, which included ripping glasses off an Ipswich Town security guard during the match on December 14.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Football Association (FA) announced the misconduct charge in a statement on Tuesday, noting that Cunha admitted to acting improperly following the final whistle. The sanctions were imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission after Cunha accepted the charge. The FA has indicated that full written reasons for the case will be published in due course.
The suspension means Cunha will miss Wolverhampton’s upcoming Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at Molineux Stadium and the FA Cup tie away at Bristol City. The Brazilian forward, who has scored 26 goals and provided 12 assists in 76 appearances for Wolverhampton, is a key player for the team currently sitting 17th in the Premier League standings, with four wins and 11 defeats in 19 matches.
