We must draw lessons from history and strive for unity, House President says

House President Annita Demetriou has said that we must draw lessons from history and commit to peace and unity, addressing the plenary on the occasion of the day against Fascism and Anti-Semitism and Remembrance Day of the Victims of the two World Wars. In an intervention before the House plenary on Thursday, read out by House Acting President, Zacharias Koulias, she noted that fascism and anti-Semitism are two of the darkest chapters in human history, which led to the suffering and deaths of millions. Moreover, she said that these remembrance days remind us all that we need to be vigilant against the rise of ideologies that breed hostility and to promote a society rooted in tolerance, respect and inclusion. The House President also paid tribute to males and females who fought in the two world wars, saying that we must all work for a world where peace, understanding and cooperation replace conflicts and hatred.
