Volkswagen Group’s Vehicle Deliveries Decline by 2.3% in 2024 Due to Reduced Sales in China

Berlin: Volkswagen Group’s vehicle deliveries declined 2.3% to 9.03 million in 2024 due to falling sales in China, according to a recent report.

According to Anadolu Agency, the group comprises several car brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, Bugatti, Seat, Skoda, and Porsche. The decline in overall vehicle deliveries is attributed to a 9.5% decrease in deliveries in China, the group’s largest market, where they delivered 3.2 million units.

Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales also saw a downturn, with a 3.4% decrease leading to 744,800 units sold last year. Despite this, BEV sales in China rose 12% to 40,100 units, indicating a growing interest in electric vehicles within the Chinese market.

In Europe, Volkswagen’s deliveries fell slightly by 0.4% to approximately 3.3 million units. In contrast, North America experienced an increase in deliveries, climbing 6.4% to a little over 1 million units. Electric vehicles made up 8.3% of Volkswagen Group’s total sales in the period.

The deliveries of Volkswagen-branded vehicles alone declined by 1.4% to 4.8 million in 2024, reinforcing the impact of reduced sales in China on the group’s overall performance.
