US wholesale inventories up 2.3% month-on-month in March

Wholesale inventories in the US rose 2.3% month-on-month to $840.3 billion in March, according to Commerce Department figures released Monday.

The figure, which measures the change in the total value of goods held in inventory by wholesalers, rose in line with the market consensus.

Annually, wholesale inventories marked a 22% increase from the March 2021 level.

The February figure was revised to $821.1 billion for a monthly gain of 2.8%.

Wholesale trade sales, also known as total sales of merchant wholesalers, also rose 1.7% to $686.2 billion in March.

The figure for February was also revised downwards to a 1.5% monthly increase.
