The Dow Jones was up 18.7 points, or 0.06%, to close at 33,999.
The S&P 500 added 11 points, or 0.26%, to end the day flat at 4,285.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 27.2 points, or 0.21%, to 12,965
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 1.96% to 19.51. The 10-year US Treasury yield decreased 0.57% to 2.879%.
While the dollar index rose to a monthly high of 107.4, the euro fell to a four-week low of $1.008 against the dollar.
Precious metals were on the decline, with gold losing 0.20% to $1,773 and silver falling 1.23% to $19.49.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude was at $96.5 per barrel, gaining 3.08%, while US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $90.53 — up 2.75%.
