US stock exchanges closed higher Monday, extending their gains after registering their third straight winning week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 203 points, or 0.58%, to finish the day at 35,151. The blue-chip index rose 1.9% last week.
The S and P 500 increased 33 points, or 0.74%, to end the session at 4,547 after the index recorded a weekly gain of 2.2%.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, jumped 159 points, or 1.13%, to close at 14,284 after the tech-heavy index last week gained 2.4%.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, was down 2.8% to 13.41. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 0.43% to 4.422%.
The dollar index declined 0.41% to 103.49, while the euro added 0.02% to $1.0940 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold trimming 0.16% to $1,978 an ounce and silver decreasing 1.2% to $23.43.
Oil prices rose around 2%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $82.02 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $77.62.
