US, Russian officials discuss Ukraine, Belarus-Poland border crisis

The US and Russian security officials have discussed cyber security, the situation in Ukraine, and the migration crisis on the Belarus-Poland border, the Kremlin spokesman said on Thursday.

Head of Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev and US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan also spoke over phone about the preparation of a new presidential meeting, Dmitry Peskov told reporters at a daily briefing in Moscow.

According to the spokesman, there is currently no information about possible dates for a meeting between the two leaders.

Earlier, Peskov had said that there is no agreement yet on a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden but “everything is possible.”

Putin and Biden met at a summit in Geneva, Switzerland in June in their first face-to-face talks since the US president took office this January.
