Sanaa: The Yemeni Houthi group early Thursday reported the killing of two people as a result of US airstrikes on the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV stated that the airstrikes targeted a stone-cutting site in the Arqoub area of Khawlan district in the Sanaa Province with four raids. The strikes reportedly resulted in the death of two individuals and injuries to two others.
On Wednesday evening, the Houthi group reported a total of 15 airstrikes on Sanaa. The escalation follows a statement from US President Donald Trump on March 15, where he announced a ‘major offensive’ against the Houthis and threatened further action.
The Houthi group has been actively targeting Israeli-linked vessels traversing the Red and Arabian seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden. These attacks, which involve missiles and drones, are claimed by the group to be acts of solidarity with the Gaza Strip. The attacks were initially halted following a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in January. However, the Houthi group indicated a potential resumption of hostilities when Israel blocked humanitarian aid to Gaza on March 2.
