Ukraine Reports 15 Injuries Following Russian Airstrike on Kharkiv Region.

Kharkiv: Ukraine announced on Monday that at least 15 individuals sustained injuries due to a Russian airstrike in the northeastern Kharkiv region. Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov revealed on Telegram that the attacks, which occurred late Sunday, resulted in injuries to 11 civilians and caused damage to local infrastructure, including two residential buildings.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ukraine’s National Police reported that four policemen were also injured in the airstrikes, which specifically targeted the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kharkiv city. Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city and situated approximately 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the Russian border, has frequently been the focus of airstrikes. These attacks have intensified as Russia seeks to penetrate Ukraine’s defenses in the broader region since early May.

The Russian offensive in the northeastern part of Ukraine marks the opening of a new front in the conflict, which has persisted for over two years and was previously concentrated in
the east and south of the country. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the Kharkiv region was attacked using guided bombs, along with missiles and drones deployed across multiple regions, including the capital, Kyiv.

In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have targeted and damaged military infrastructure, energy facilities, and an oil refinery, which they allege were used to supply the Ukrainian army.
