ISTANBUL: Ukraine has claimed it ‘successfully’ hit two Russian ships, two days after saying it damaged two landing ships in the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow illegally annexed in 2014.
‘According to updated information, on March 24, in addition to the large amphibious ships Yamal and Azov, the Defense Forces of Ukraine successfully hit the reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs and the large amphibious ship Konstantin Olshansky,’ the Ukrainian navy said in a Telegram statement on Tuesday.
Earlier, Dmytro Pletenchuk, the naval spokesman, said the Konstantin Olshansky landing ship, which he said was taken under Russian control in 2014, was hit with a Neptune missile.
He also confirmed Ukraine’s strike on the Ivan Khurs intelligence ship.
Ukraine’s General Staff on Sunday said it struck the Yamal and Azov landing ships in the port city of Sevastopol, besides a communications center and several Russian infrastructure facilities.
