Two migrant children discharged from hospital, 3 more are still hospitalised

The two migrant children who were treated at the Famagusta General Hospital have been discharged, the State Health Services Organisation has said, adding that the children were transferred to the Pournara Reception Center.

It also says that the little brother of the child who passed away yesterday, is now stabilized and left the Children’s ICU and is being treated in the pediatric ward of the Makario Hospital in Nicosia.

It notes that three children remain hospitalized at Makario Hospital, two of which are in the Children’s ICU and one is in the pediatric ward.

The children were found unconscious in the early hours of Wednesday on a boat off Cape Greko along with 55 other people.

One of the children hospitalised in the ICU passed away in the early hours of Thursday due to cardiac arrest. The autopsy, which was performed at the mortuary of the Nicosia General Hospital, did not reveal the exact cause of the girl’s death. Biological samples were taken and will be sent for laboratory tests.
