Two Cyprus aircraft in firefighting mission in North Macedonia

Two firefighting aircraft of the Cyprus Department of Forests have arrived in North Macedonia and are assisting in putting out the forest fires in the area of Crvevna Voda, Agriculture Minister Maria Panagiotou posted on X Thursday.

The two aircraft were sent to North Macedonia through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and are in cooperation and coordination with other fire services from other countries, through the #rescEU project, she posted.

The planes departed Cyprus yesterday from Paphos international airport and are set to remain in the Republic of North Macedonia for five days.

The aircraft are carrying equipment for refueling and use of foam as well as telecommunication equipment.

These two aircraft have been included in the rescEU mechanism since mid-June 2024.
