Kabul: Afghanistan’s Taliban-led interim administration confirmed on Thursday the deaths of two Afghan nationals and several injuries in Iran. Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman of the interim administration, revealed that a fact-finding committee was established following reports of casualties among Afghans on the Iran-Pakistan border in recent days.
According to Anadolu Agency, the evidence collected points to explosions and gunfire targeting Afghan nationals within the Kalgan Valley, situated in Iranian territory. Fitrat stated that the bodies of two Afghans, along with 34 eyewitnesses, some of whom sustained injuries during the incident, have been repatriated to Afghanistan.
There has been no immediate reaction from Tehran regarding the incident. Fitrat mentioned that certain individuals remain in Iran and Pakistan, and the interim administration is actively engaged in locating and repatriating them. He emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, and the committee is persistently working
on it. Detailed findings will be disseminated upon the conclusion of the investigation. The interim administration is referred to as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in this context.
