Türkiye’s Borsa Istanbul up at Thursday open

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at 4,367.76 points on Thursday, up 0.16%, or 6.80 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index ended the midweek up 0.02%, with a daily trading volume of 109 billion Turkish liras ($5.85 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.6090 as of 09.55 a.m. local time (0655GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate was at 18.6640, and a British pound traded for 21.1779 Turkish liras.

Oil prices continued their losses as demand from China remained uncertain with sustained COVID-19 restrictions and rising crude stockpiles in the US, the world’s largest oil consumer.

International benchmark Brent crude traded at $92.47 per barrel at 10.58 a.m. local time (0758GMT), a 0.19% decrease from the closing price of $92.65 a barrel in the previous trading session.
