Turkish stocks up at Thursday’s open

Türkiye’s benchmark stock index opened at 5.174,41 points on Thursday, up 2.13%, or 107.91 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was down 3.61% to close Wednesday at 5,066.50 points, with a daily trading volume of 157 billion Turkish liras ($8.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.6482 as of 10.25 a.m. local time (0725GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 19.8634, and a British pound traded for 23.0975 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $81.97 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was at $1,802.45.
