Turkish stock exchange down at Monday’s close

Trkiye's benchmark stock index ended Monday at 4,466.19 points, down 0.79% from the previous close.

After starting the week at 4,532.6 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 35.54 points compared to last Thursday, which ended the trading week due to a public holiday on Friday.

The index's lowest value during the first transaction day was 4,415.66, while its daily high was 4,556.78.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 3.7 trillion Turkish liras ($187 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 49.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.5 billion).

During the day, 30 stocks on the index rose and 69 fell compared to the previous close.

The price of an ounce of gold was $1,975.35, while Brent crude oil sold for around $75.88 per barrel as of 7.30 p.m. local time (1630GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.8323, the euro/lira exchange rate was 21.4606, while the British pound traded at 24.6460 Turkish liras.
