Turkish Grand Prix in the 2021 FIM Motocross World Championship started on Saturday with the qualifying and training sessions in different categories in Turkey’s western Afyonkarahisar province.
Following free practice sessions earlier in the day, the qualifying sessions of the EMX Open category – a competition for riders racing on 2-stroke and 4-stroke motorcycles from 175cc up to 450cc – and FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship took place at the Afyonkarahisar Motor Sports Center.
In the EMX Open category, Davide De Bortoli of Italy was the fastest rider in the qualifying session with a lap time of 1:47.770 followed by Nicolas Dercourt from France with a time of 1:47.821.
Another Italian rider Simone Croci was third finishing the race in a time of 1:48.964.
Meanwhile, in the qualifying session of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship, Italian Kiara Fontanesi came first after clocking a lap time of 1:52.987, ahead of Courtney Duncan of New Zealand who finished in the second with a time of 1:54.456.
Dutch rider Nancy van de Ven put in a time of 1:54.813 to become the third-fastest rider in the qualifying session.
