Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Thursday discussed the latest developments in Syria with Arab League Secretary-General over the phone.
According to Anadolu Agency, Hakan Fidan and Ahmed Aboul Gheit also focused on strengthening ties between Trkiye and the Arab League, of which Trkiye holds observer status.
In recent developments, anti-regime armed groups in Syria have captured Hama city, seizing the city center and forcing the regime forces to concede control. This offensive marks a significant shift in power dynamics within the region, as these groups solidify their hold.
Furthermore, on November 30, these anti-regime factions captured much of central Aleppo after a swift advance from its western countryside. This rapid progression has enabled them to seize the town of Khan Shaykhun, thereby gaining near-total control of the Idlib province.
In another strategic move, the opposition Syrian National Army launched Operation Dawn of Freedom against the PKK/YPG terrorist group on December 1. This operation
successfully liberated the town of Tel Rifaat, marking a crucial victory for the opposition forces.
