Turkish Festival to kick off in Chicago on Friday, shining spotlight on Trkiye’s cultural heritage

CHICAGO: A festival celebrating Turkish culture and traditions is set to begin Friday in the US city of Chicago with captivating artistic displays and statements by officials. The three-day Turkish Festival will take place in the western Village of Rosemont, where the Chicago-based Zakat Foundation will be hosting a show of whirling dervishes, followed by a theatrical display by the Turkish group, Theater Kulliyen, on Friday. Anadolu is the global communication partner for the event, which will feature opening remarks by the Zakat Foundation's Executive Director Halil Demir, as well as an address by Trkiye's Consul General in Chicago Engin Turesin. The festival will include a cooking show on Turkish cuisine, as well as several artistic events. About 230 stands will be set up on the festival grounds, including by companies, charities and other non-governmental organizations, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. Source: Anadolu Agency
