Turkish Cypriot envoy visits Anadolu Agency headquarters in Türkiye’s capital

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ (TRNC) ambassador to Türkiye paid a visit on Tuesday to the headquarters of Anadolu Agency, the country’s premier news source.

Ismet Korukoglu was welcomed at the headquarters in the capital Ankara by Serdar Karagoz, the agency’s director general, and Yusuf Ozhan, the deputy director general and editor-in-chief.

During the meeting, Karagoz expressed his pleasure to host Korukoglu and said Anadolu Agency was ready to contribute to securing global recognition for the TRNC as an independent nation.

Karagoz went on to say that Anadolu Agency sees Korukoglu as the envoy of an independent state and added that he hoped to one day welcome him as the ambassador of a nation recognized by the world.

For his part, Korukoglu underlined the importance of the media and said he also believes Anadolu Agency would play a key role in the TRNC’s international recognition.

Pointing to Türkiye’s support for his country on various platforms, he noted that the TRNC had also applied for observer status in the Organization of Turkic States.

Founded in 1920, Anadolu Agency is a leading global news agency operating across the world. It serves subscribers in more than 100 countries, including in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Asia-Pacific.
