ISTANBUL, -- Turkish Airlines (THY) has confirmed that direct flights from Istanbul to Havana and Caracas will begin as of December 20th, with three departures per week.
The flights which will begin one week later than earlier announced, will use the Airbus A330 and will be connected to 15 destinations in six countries on the American continent to which this airline already flies.
THY has also announced the schedules, connections and prices of some flights that are part of the expansion policy in the Caribbean region.
In case of Venezuela, the flights respond to a rapprochement between the governments of Ankara and Caracas that will lead to the signing of important bilateral trade agreements in the coming months.
Diplomatic sources told Prensa Latina of the upcoming visit to Turkey by Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Jesus Faria, on December 5th and 6th, as well as the official trip that Turkey's President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, will carry out to the South American nation in January or February 2017.
