Turkish Airlines cancels flights to Germany amid airport strike


ANKARA: Turkish Airlines canceled some flights to and from Germany because of a strike planned for Thursday.

Trkiye’s flag carrier announced that flights were canceled connecting the Turkish metropolis, Istanbul, and the capital, Ankara, to Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hanover, Dusseldorf, Leipzig, Stuttgart and Cologne.

Aviation workers are set to stage a strike at airports in Hamburg, Bremen, Hanover, Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Leipzig, Dresden, Erfurt, Frankfurt and Stuttgart on Thursday to demand higher wages and better working conditions.

The Union Verdi trade union said it has been negotiating on behalf of 25,000 aviation workers nationwide with the Federal Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS).
