Turkey’s daily power consumption up 3.07% on Oct. 19

Turkey’s daily electricity consumption increased by 3.07% on Tuesday compared to the previous day, totaling 877,502 megawatt-hours, according to official figures from Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Wednesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 41,468 megawatt-hours at 12.00 local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 29,525 megawatt-hours at 04.00 local time (0100 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 878,508 megawatt-hours on Tuesday, marking a 3.01% increase compared to Monday.

Turkey’s electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 43.2% of total electricity consumption and lignite plants contributed 12.4% while wind power plants comprised 11.7%.

On Tuesday, Turkey’s electricity exports amounted to 12,671 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 11,720 megawatt-hours.
