Turkey’s daily power consumption down 9.5% on Sept. 5

Turkey’s daily electricity consumption decreased by 9.5% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 845,145 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 39,459 megawatt-hours at 21.00 local time (1800 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 29,937 megawatt-hours at 08.00 local time (0500 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 855,281 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a 9.4% decrease from Saturday.

Turkey’s electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 30.4% of total electricity consumption, lignite plants contributed 15.6% while imported coal plants comprised 15.1%.

On Sunday, Turkey’s electricity exports amounted to 15,010 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 4,888 megawatt-hours.
