Turkey’s daily power consumption down 4.5% on Oct. 16

Turkey’s daily electricity consumption decreased by 4.5% on Saturday compared to the previous day, totaling 827,889 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Sunday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 38,924 megawatt-hours at 12.00 local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 29,321 megawatt-hours at 05.00 local time (0200 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 828,382 megawatt-hours on Saturday, marking a 4.8% drop increase Friday.

Turkey’s electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 43.9% of total electricity consumption and lignite plants contributed 14% while wind plants comprised 10.7%.

On Saturday, Turkey’s electricity exports amounted to 14,761 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 14,323 megawatt-hours.
