Turkey’s daily electricity consumption decreased by 10% on Sunday compared to the previous day, totaling 819,543 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Monday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 38,223 megawatt-hours at 21.00 local time (1900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country’s electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 28,978 megawatt-hours at 08.00 local time (0500 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 833,739 megawatt-hours on Sunday, marking a 9.8% decrease from Saturday.
Turkey’s electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 40.8% of total electricity consumption, imported coal plants contributed 17% while lignite plants comprised 13.2%.
On Sunday, Turkey’s electricity exports amounted to 17,259 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 3,083 megawatt-hours.
