Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,562.17 points on Thursday, surging 0.98% or 15.14 points from the previous close.
At midweek’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index rose 0.91% to 1,547.03 points, with a daily trading volume of 29.9 billion Turkish liras ($3.1 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 9.7130 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 9.7010 on Wednesday’s close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 11.2640, up from 11.2180, while one British pound was traded for 13.2670 Turkish liras, slightly down from 13.2700.
One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $81.50 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
