Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,455.25 points on Monday, up 0.53% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,451.33 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 7.61 points from Friday’s close of 1,447.64 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,451.33 points, while its daily high was 1,461.96 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($128.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 13.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.64 billion).
A total of 49 stocks on the index rose, nine fell, and 42 remained unchanged compared to Friday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and private lender Akbank.
Borusan Yatirim ve Pazarlama A.S., which invests in companies operating in steel, distributorship, logistics, and technology sectors, was the best performer of the day with its shares up 9.98%. Stocks of automotive producer Tofas did the worst by falling 4.09%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1.777,35 by market close, up from $1.762,90 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $69.73 per barrel with a 1.22% decline as of 6:36 p.m. local time (1536GMT).
