Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,432.80 points on Wednesday, up 0.21% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,432.24 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 2.95 points from Tuesday’s close of 1,429.85 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,427.67 points and its daily high was 1,437.93 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.12 trillion Turkish liras ($121.3 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 17.93 billion Turkish liras ($1.92 billion).
A total of 40 stocks on the index rose, 54 fell and six remained unchanged compared to Tuesday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and fertilizer company Gubre Fabrikalari.
Shares of Gubre Fabrikalari performed the best, rising 6.57%, while stocks of waste-to-energy firm Biotrend dropped the most, 10%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,777.50 by market close, up from $1,776.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.16% to $85.22 per barrel as of 6.25 p.m. local time (1525GMT).
