Turkey’s benchmark stock index ended with gains on Thursday to hit another record closing of 1,736.88 points, while it hit a new intraday all-time high of 1,759.19 points during the session.
After starting the day at 1,710.05 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index gained 29.84 points, or 1.75%, from Wednesday’s close of 1,707.04 points.
The BIST 100’s lowest value during the day was 1,697.86 points and its daily high was 1,759.19 points.
The total market value of the index was over 1.37 trillion Turkish liras ($132.2 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 46.5 billion Turkish liras ($4.3 billion).
A total of 64 stocks on the index rose, while 31 fell, and five remained unchanged compared to Wednesday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lenders Garanti BBVA, Yapi Kredi, and Akbank.
Shares of Yapi Kredi performed the best, rising 7.42%, while the stocks of energy company Odas dropped the most, 1.9%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,859.20 by market close, slightly down from $1,859.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.51% to $80.69 per barrel as of 6.26 p.m. local time (1526GMT).
